The Local Charity is a volunteer-run Canadian registered non-profit charity based in Toronto devoted to creating diverse leaders of tomorrow. Our mission is to enable and inspire individuals to reach their greatest potential. Our goal is to empower them to be the author of their own story.

We are a lean operation run predominantly by volunteers with minimal overhead expenses.

The Program

The Financial Empowerment Program will teach financial literacy and more importantly, catalyze a transformative journey towards financial empowerment.

More than accumulating wealth, Financial Empowerment is also about fostering a healthy and sustainable relationship with money. Through this program, we provide participants with a safe space to explore their relationship with money by guiding them through some powerful questions and activities to open up awareness, provide the knowledge and tools they need to make informed financial decisions, plan for the future, and achieve their financial goals.

The Role

As a Subject Matter Expert Panellist, you will join a panel of professionals from various backgrounds to engage in a dynamic discussion, facilitated by a member of The Local Charity.

Consumerism: You will share your expertise and insights on topics related to consumption patterns, their impact on personal finances, and practical strategies for making conscious purchasing decisions.

Entrepreneurship: Your role will involve sharing your experiences, insights, and advice related to entrepreneurship. This is an opportunity to inspire and educate the next generation of business leaders.

Qualifications

  • Believing in our cause is mandatory 😃
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Previous experience as a panellist or public speaker is preferred but not mandatory.

Consumerism

  • Demonstrated expertise in consumer behaviours, economics, marketing psychology, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in providing insights and analysis on consumer trends and spending habits.

Entrepreneurship:

  • Demonstrated expertise in entrepreneurship, including knowledge of business planning, financial management, and strategic decision-making.
  • Successful entrepreneur or business leader with a proven track record of starting and/or managing a business.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in a panel discussion, offering expert insights and perspectives.
  • Share personal experiences, challenges faced, and lessons learned.
  • Provide practical strategies for participants to make informed and mindful decisions.
  • Address questions and engage in discussions with the audience to enhance their understanding.
  • Collaborate with fellow panellists to create an informative and engaging session.
