The Local Charity is a volunteer-run Canadian registered non-profit charity based in Toronto devoted to creating diverse leaders of tomorrow. Our mission is to enable and inspire individuals to reach their greatest potential. Our goal is to empower them to be the author of their own story.

We are a lean operation run predominantly by volunteers with minimal overhead expenses.

The Program

The Financial Empowerment Program will teach financial literacy and more importantly, catalyze a transformative journey towards financial empowerment.

More than accumulating wealth, Financial Empowerment is also about fostering a healthy and sustainable relationship with money. Through this program, we provide participants with a safe space to explore their relationship with money by guiding them through some powerful questions and activities to open up awareness, provide the knowledge and tools they need to make informed financial decisions, plan for the future, and achieve their financial goals.

The Role

We need someone who is very well-versed with the Canadian banking system, types of products, tools, and instruments available; practical insight around strategies to be financially stable. How to manage debt and protect/build up your credit score.

More specifically, when you visit the program webpage, you’ll see the outline of the 9-session program, we need instructor(s) to deliver Session 4: Credit & Debt Management, Session 6: Savings & Banking, and Session 7: Asset & Growth Management.
We already have the materials leaning on Prosper Canada

Qualifications

  • Believing in our cause is mandatory 😃
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Previous experience as an instructor or speaker is preferred but not mandatory.

Expertise: 

  • Demonstrated expertise in personal finance, and managing personal finance in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver materials
  • Share personal experiences, challenges faced, and lessons learned as appropriate.
  • Provide practical strategies for participants to make informed and mindful decisions.
  • Address questions and engage in discussions with the audience to enhance their understanding.
